Koko and the Coconut is an endearing brand-new picture book about a plucky young coconut crab that lives on a luscious tropical island.

Being a big boy coconut crab, Koko is now ready to leave his juvenile home (a shell) to forge a life being a full land-dwelling crustacean.  His challenge though is to scale coconut tree for the ultimate prize, his breakfast. Koko is hungry and coconut crabs love the juicy flesh inside coconuts. But it is a very tall tree and his heart beats at a furious pace. He reminds himself he must be calm and believe.

Koko is successful and super proud of his achievement of obtaining a coconut, however he must now peel and crack the coconut, can he do it?

Koko and the Coconut is a heart-warming story that will have everyone on the sidelines cheering him on. It is wonderfully suited for younger children and children who may struggle with emotional regulation. As each challenge is presented, he is learning how to overcome them one step at a time.

The illustrations are vibrant and playful and beautifully brings the whole narrative together.

Little Koko with his big eyes will most certainly find a place in your heart.
