Marco, who has
topped the state in his end-of-year exams, should be at university, studying
biomedicine. Instead, he’s been sent to live on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean
Sea with his estranged uncle, all because of several medical issues he’s
experienced, which seem like panic attacks. On the ship Marco travels with his
best friend Celina, and falls for Hunter, who he refers to as the ‘Super Duper
Guy’ and around whom he seems to make silly, embarrassing mistakes.
This YA novel is a
story about what happens when your plans are derailed, and you must rediscover
yourself. It’s also about how to negotiate family secrets, and about the moment
you realise that the people you look up to are just as human and capable of
mistakes as you are. Themes touch on family, homosexual attraction, and mental
health.
